Three weeks before President Gordon B. Hinckley’s 96th birthday, I received a call from the BYU Administration. “President Hinckley is coming down to break ground for the new Hinckley Center on his birthday. We thought we’d like to do a video for him. Can you do it?” I always try to be up for a challenge.
Knowing that there was insufficient motion video footage, we used our resources: great photographs and numerous audio clips of President Hinckley speaking or of him being mentioned and quoted by others. With Nathan Webster doing the sound edit and Doug Thomas, graphic designer extraordinaire, doing the video, we made it! The music was composed and recorded in three days by David Zabriskie. We originally projected it in the BYU Wilkinson Center Ballroom on a high definition projector at 60 frames per second. YouTube has a limit of 30 FPS so its not as perfect as I would like here.
